Property Operations Associate (Entry Level)

Job description

Why, How, What?

Bricklane harnesses technology to unlock investment in residential property at scale using a revolutionary technology and data driven approach.

We believe it’s time the housing market was brought into the 21st century to benefit tenants and investors alike. We are committed to fixing issues in the rental market by providing high quality homes in which people aspire to live.

We’ve recently raised £600m to deploy across London, Bristol and the South East - it’s the largest tech-led investment in residential property outside the US, and we’re just getting started.

Backed by the likes of LocalGlobe, A/O Proptech and Zoopla, we’ve assembled a smart, highly collaborative team from the worlds of tech, property and finance.

Technology is central to our approach and success so far, enabling us to buy and manage properties more smartly, and more efficiently, than ever previously possible.

We place strong emphasis on diversity in our hiring and our current team comprises 8 nationalities. We value equality in employment as we believe that it’s the only way to reflect and represent the diversity of society in the UK at Bricklane. We do not tolerate discrimination or workplace harassment of any kind.

We’re looking for a Property Operations Associate to join our Property Valuations Team, helping to drive our growth identifying the best residential properties to invest in. Property Operations at Bricklane covers valuation, negotiation, legal due diligence, property management and portfolio management.

What you will be working on

Buying residential property is at the core of what we do, as is screening thousands of residential properties. As a member of the Operations team, you will be given all the training you need and you will play a key part in our scale using our in-house tool to find the most profitable properties.

As some examples, you’ll be:

  • Assessing the suitability of a target property for an investment in terms of its location, design, condition, size etc.

  • Calculating the potential rental income and costs of owning a target property.

  • Supporting the team to hit challenging KPIs that are fundamental to Bricklane's rapid growth.

Your career development

  • Training: In your first three months you will be given on the job training to identify residential properties for investments, and you will also be able to use the online tools needed for the role. After you complete your probation, you will be enrolled on a residential property focused certificate course that takes seven months to complete. This will give you 75 hours of structured training. We also want you to develop your fundamental business soft skills so you will get structured training on subjects like time management and business presentation.

  • Support: You will have your weekly check-in meetings with your line manager to help you identify and overcome any difficulties you are having in your training or in your role.

  • Transition: We are a growing business. After two years of success in this role, you may have the opportunity to join other Property Operations teams as a Junior Associate or stay in the Valuations team as a Senior Associate.

Benefits of working with us

  • Competitive compensation with an 18% pay rise after year one.

  • 100-150 hours of structured training helping you to become a technology-driven real estate business person.

  • Equity. You own a share in the business we’re building.

  • Flexibility: current Covid-19 circumstances aside, we love working from our brand new office in Old Street. That said, we support partial remote working, if that's best for you.

  • Personal development: we support you with training opportunities to help you grow.

  • Holiday: 25 days annual leave + 1 extra day around Christmas.

  • Health: we offer Vitality healthcare to support your health and wellbeing, with discounts for gym membership, activewear, sports equipment, and cinema tickets.

  • Pension: you’ll be covered for later life with our pension plan.
